Heatwave and Fashion
We have a heatwave - and while I walk very early in the morning I think about the changes in "fashion": many centuries women wanted a skin as white as milk - it showed that they were noble and no peasants. Then it changed: people lay on beaches and "roasted" like kippered herrings in the sun - (preferably on an aluminium blanket that reflected the sun rays) - a deep suntan showed "We have the money and time to make holidays". Now the sun lotion is smeared so lavishly on the skin that we need extra pills of vitamin D3.
Above you see Lythrum salicaria - purple loosestrife. "Red Sally" shows us how to make a good time in the heat: feet in a ditch - and lots of water to drink. Cheers!
